A Young, Bilingual & Growing Workforce

One of the Rio Grande Valley’s greatest competitive advantages is its people. With an average age of approximately 29, the RGV has a young and growing workforce, with English and Spanish spoken throughout the region—an important advantage for businesses operating in both U.S. and Mexican markets.

The region’s workforce pipeline continues to expand through major higher-education and technical institutions, including The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), Texas A&M University, Our Lady of the Lake University, South Texas College, and Texas State Technical College (TSTC). These institutions are helping prepare the next generation of professionals, technicians, healthcare workers, entrepreneurs, and skilled tradespeople needed to support the Valley’s continued economic growth.
